Artist Fun Fact: I’ve been saving an old waffle iron for years, knowing someday it would be the mouth of some critter. When I found a bunch of brake pads, they reminded me of lizard scales and that became the inspiration for this sculpture, I call “Waffleliz.” Waffleliz is based on the Giant Monitor Lizard that lived in Australia 40,000 years ago.

Waffleliz

The sleek and agile form of the giant monitor lizard is brought to life through the use of a waffle iron, recycled brake pads and metal scraps. This sculpture captures the lizard's dynamic movement, emphasizing adaptability and survival in the natural world.

Wild Wonders is a traveling exhibit by artist Dale Lewis.
