Artist’s Fun Fact: Who would imagine, one man’s fascination with the texture of nails would morph into a sunflower sculpture? After creating an interesting pattern by welding nails on a recycled metal platter, the center of a sunflower was born. Fused glass petals were added to surround the flower’s centers. Northfield fused-glass artist Geralyn Thelen made the fused-glass petals.

This sculpture was purchased by the city of Red Wing, MN,
and is on permanent public display.
